Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury recorded a song together in 1981.MICHAEL JACKSON worked with a massive amount of artists and songwriters over the course of his career - but one instance saw him working with Queen frontman Freddie Mercury whilst recording Thriller, and in turn created a song that was locked away until 2014. Mj made his mark on the music industry over the course of his 40 year career. The King of Pop sold approximately 400 million records, thanks to his iconic albums Thriller and Bad. Jackson was worth approximately $500 million. However he didn’t do it all alone, as he worked with some other members of the arts along the way.Freddie died 29 years ago on November 24, 1991 due to complications from AIDS, but ten years prior, in 1981, he teamed up with Jackson to work on some new music.The song in question was There Must Be More to Life Than This, which was eventually released on Freddie’s solo album Mr. Bad Guy.Mr. Bad Guy was released in 1985, but the version of the song included in the album was not the version Freddie recorded with Jackson.
Jackson and Freddie recorded the song as a duet, as well as two other songs - State of Shock, and Victory.The band’s original plan was to release Jackson and Freddie’s duet in 2012 on the compilation album Queen Forever.However Brian May remaining member of Queen band found himself struggling to work with the Jackson estate, and couldn’t get the song released until two years later, in 2014 - 33 years after it was originally recorded.Roger Taylor go on to reveal: “As well as the Michael Jackson track There Must Be More to Life than This, there is another song Freddie did with him, called State of Shock, with a massive rock sound. But we could only have one track with Michael, which is a great shame.”
Jackson also recorded some music alongside The Beatles star Paul McCartney.He said: “One of my favourite songs to record, of all my recordings as a solo artist, is probably The Girl Is Mine.”
